Meanwhile, the department itself is undergoing some changes of its own.  Beginning in the Fall of the 2025 – 2026 school year, the program will become a Career Technical Education (CTE) program.  Students will learn all aspects of the Theatre, both onstage and behind the scenes.

Vice Principal Doug Hughey will continue to teach Theatre Arts II, our Advanced Drama class.  Students will have the opportunity to be a part of a student production and a children’s theater production.  Mr. Hughey has led the department for the last 6 years.

Center High School’s Graphic Design, Animation, & Media CTE teacher, James Magedman, is joining Center Drama this year to teach Theatre Arts I.  Mr. Magedman will additionally produce and direct our Fall and Spring Center Drama productions.  He has been and will continue to be the Technical Director of the Center High School Performing Art Center.

Center Drama is dedicated to training students in the world of theater to bring focus to age old conflicts and positive resolutions.  While not all stories are full of sunshine and bubbles, we aim to entertain through fun and laughter, for joy is the weapon we all need to make the world a better place.
